We celebrated without any aplomb on Friday, just a huge buffet breakfast and a grand lunch at the Nikko Hotel. Ah, yes, what is lunch on this special day without the requisite sweet ending. So the both of us ate lightly at the start. We had a refreshing salad of grilled vegetables and shared a plate of pasta. It came "a la minute" drenched with a generous helping of tomato sauce and chunks of fresh button mushroom, bell peppers and zucchini. Siddharth ever so pleased with his bowl of vegetarian pasta, finished it up in seconds. He manage to try some beancurd in sweet sour sauce but felt he could not enjoy it as much as he had been overindulgent with a second helping of pasta.
Not wanting to waste time, we immediately headed for the dessert buffet. The newly renovated Serena Brasserie offers a small but interesting dessert and cake selection. Both of us fell in love with those cute tiny spoons of baked creme brulee. Among the flavors served were peanut butter, coconut pandan, strawberry and vanilla. I doted myself on more than one small pot of berries trifle but wasn't too impressed by the dark chocolate mousse or the lemon mousse. Sweet, tart and dainty dessert made from berries are my choice of the "piece de resistance". Coupled with the fact that they are rich with anti-oxidants, they are my fruits of choice.
Junju as the photographer of the day, wasted no time in snapping photos. Daddy, the photographer beamed with such pride and joy.
She was born with a foodie's taste-bud and a passion to eat the best. Her sense of adventure in experimenting with all kinds of cuisine, her flair and ability to form her opinion deserves a space in my blog. As my new partner in crime both in the kitchen and out, (she even takes better pictures than me) welcome aboard.
According to Junju ...
Well, I liked the creamy texture but I personally prefer less tart tasting fruits. But those baked brulee was heavenly especially the coconut, peanut butter and the refreshing mango brulee with the crispy caramelized sugar which was soooo ....... crunchy.
Mom, the kitchen scientist tasted, tested and analyzed everything. I know she is cooking something in her head. Wonder which one she will clone next after analyzing the secret of making them.
